Don't Procrastinate The Release Of Your Music ! Musician Marketing Mindset Tips #3

Don't Procrastinate The Release Of Your Music ! Musician Marketing Mindset Tips #3 Don't Procrastinate The Release Of Your Music! Musician Marketing Mindset Tips #3. Why it's a bad idea to wait to release music. This can be the release of a mixtape, album & single. More info below πŸ»πŸ»πŸ»πŸ»πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡ 🎹 My Blog πŸ‘‰: http://bit.ly/N0lTYx Sub My Channel: http://buff.ly/2jkg81x Video Description Hi Dan here from The Corporate Thief Beats  Something I really wanted to chat about with you today is the perfectionism fear that most artists have.  This perfectionism fear cripples artists to release  their music to the world.  If our music or content isn’t perfect we don’t to release that piece of music. You might be familiar with the some of the common  excuses that we as musicians come up with to hinder  ourself from in the release of our music.  These Procrastination Excuses Include 2:11 It's not mixed right , It's not finished  I might re-write the hook or the verse I don't have money to promote my music right now I don't understand music marketing.  I don't know how to promote my song I need more subscribers, followers and likes to release it. I don't have any time to spare to release music .... And so on and so forth Why it's a bad idea to wait to do anything. When your gut tells you to release your music and you ignore it for 1, 2 , 3 , 4 days. Then your head kicks in. And you end up having more reason's not to release your music. The build up of procrastination has made you lose     your courage to take action. Now you just see all those excuses not to release that song, ep or mixtape.  How I Don't let that fear win.....  I like the motto "The Way Leads To The Way" What this quote means is that you find the next step  only when you take the first step.  Sometimes I have a goal or a time when I want  to release a piece of content.  And don't have all the answers for my doubts  and excuses at that time. So Ignore  them. And release my content it anyway.  If people don't like it, so what !  Here's the best part.... Most of the time people's comments  are positive and my hip hop beats inspire other rappers to create music.  That is something that's very powerful... That I created some music and it affected some else's life in the world to help them create a mixtape. Who's to say that your music can't do the same thing. Or just make someone happy or entertained for a while. This is the power that we have as musicians When we release new music to the world we create something new from nothing. Think of songs like a Tech company! If you feel that your songs aren't perfect now release version 0.1 of that song.  This how the Tech industry is made. Most  the smart phone apps that we use started  with 0.1 versions.  Kid Cudi released "A Kid Named Cudi" in 2006 : 5:02 It's wasn't perfect, the beats were ok, the mixing wasn't perfect, he didn't have an audience that he has now, but he still gave to the world. Imagine just for a second if he procrastinated the release of that mixtape because of fears and excuses.  He wouldn't have the career he has today. Nirvana one the of the biggest rock bands in the world released "Bleach" in 1989. @ 7:20 Again it wasn't perfect most Nirvana fans love the raw untouched nature of that album. Kurt Cobain  and Nirvana would never been signed to Geffen Records if they never released that "Bleach" album. To sum up my point..... When fear and procrastination strike, tell that inner negative voice to "shut the fuck up" and listen to your gut. { Watch Today's Video Here } Release That Music. Have All Musicians Become Gullible ? Musician Marketing Mindset #2

Have All Musicians Become Gullible ? Musician Marketing Mindset #2 Have All Musicians Become Gullible? Musician Marketing Mindset #2 So I got this email from a music website about 2 days ago, claiming that some of my fans on Youtube have voted for my channel to be featured on their website. 🎹 My Blog πŸ‘‰: http://bit.ly/N0lTYx Sub My Channel: http://buff.ly/2jkg81x Hay It's Dan Here From The Corporatethief Beats This the full Video Description So I go this email from a music webiste saying my channel had won an award. Best Of Youtube 2017 {it was titled} Naturally, the skeptic in me made do some research before I clicked on any links from a website I don't know or heard of. So I copied the link and entered into Google and up cropped that website. Pulsemusic dot Tv it was called so I clicked it. It look like a regular plain free WordPress blog. It had some basic information and videos of some musicians on the front page. Nothing special just a basic blog with some video. I went back to the email and clicked on the link. This took me to the same site. This time it had special page for me with and Facebook activation link on it. When I clicked on the Facebook activation link it just took me to my Facebook and expected me to share pulsemusic's blog on my Facebook page. I declined doing this step as I wanted to dig just a little deeper. After some more research I noticed that their were a tons of musicians on Twitter and Facebook claim that they have been nominated for the same best of Youtube award. And that you had to vote for them to win. I CAN FEEL A FACEPALM COMING 😳 All these musicians clearly didn't do any research to see if this blog was worth the feature. Also no musician checked if this blog is just using them to promote the blogs own agenda. I popped the url of this site into SEM Rush {a Website Traffic Spy Tool} just to see if the site had any search traffic from Google. And I knew it didn't as the site just looks too basic to get traffic. Also I noticed that the site was running a small paid promotion which would give you a spotlight feature on the front page. If I am honest I don't think the site owner of pulse music dot tv is intentionally out to deceive musicians. I think that they are genuinely out trying to create a real music blog. So what's the problem then? I just think that all these musicians have become so gullible and never conducted any research to see if it was a blog that is worth being featured on? I have seen this vote for me stuff before on certain mixtape sites and it's a complete waste of time. Do any musicians do any kind of research before they get a random email that ego strokes their creative side? Are we confident or optimistic? Or we just don't care as long as someone tell's us that we are the greatest musician on the planet? So to wrap this point up, Do some basic research of any site that what wants to feature your music. Especially if you have to pay them. Not every opportunity is worth your time. Instead focus on building a connection with the fans you have. Musicians Need To Think Smarter : Musician Marketing Mindset & Developing Good Habits.

Musicians Need To Think Smarter : Musician Marketing Mindset & Developing Good Habits. Musicians Need To Think Smarter! The Musician Marketing Mindset Just some food for thought, this is something that I noticed recently and I wanted to share with my audience. More info below πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡ 🎹 My Blog πŸ‘‰: http://bit.ly/N0lTYx Sub My Channel: http://buff.ly/2jkg81x πŸ’» Start A Free Website With One | Aff Link | http://bit.ly/2k0Baly Video Description Hi There It's Dan From The Corporatethief Beats In this video I just give brief musician marketing mindset video where I noticed that I got a lot of emails from music marketing blogs and music promotion sites talking about News Years resolutions. It’s a New Year… and I know lots of musicians have new years resolutions for 2017.  Big plans, big goals, and big dreams. And that’s pretty natural - as musicians, rappers, singers & beat makers we’re always pushing the envelope and looking to create more music. We have to be optimistic about our creation process  because we put out our work out there for everyone to judge. You know what’s not so common, though? Doing the small things that actually pull you towardsthose goals and plans… I'm not the biggest fan of setting a new years resolution. I do have goals that I want to achieve  to keep my focus and structure.  But I don't let the bigger plan get so overwhelming.  I prefer to focus on Good Habits that help me take every day by day. One my favorite habits in the morning is to listen to some of the best work I have created.  I stand back and I think. I created that!  If I can create something like that once, I can do it again and this time, maybe even better.  This small good habit set's me up for a good day.  Without a good music marketing mindset I just can't create anything.  That's why these little habits join together to form my goal. Even when it comes to the music creation process, and I feel a writer's block coming along, my Good Habit then is to watch other producers making beats or famous rappers in the studio.  Video's like Timbaland and Jay Z in the studio where Timbaland tell Jay Z  "He's the best there is". Video Here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aayZ9ybDTBw These small Good habits give me more motivation and less overwhelm than a new years resolution. Maybe as musicians, we need to focus on the here and  now and think smarter with finding good habits to help  achieve our goals. Darius likes to talk about rap music marketing and mixtape promotion ideas and strategies with the clients that consult online. He feels the amount of music promotion idea's out there specifically for hip hop artists. A lot of the music marketing blogs specifically cater to bands and rock band marketing, which doesn't always apply for rap artists. That's why Darius create artistshortcut blog. To share all his insight with other rappers that struggle with promotion their mixtapes online. Darius started off a rapper, but wasn't sure if it was the career for him. He wanted more control over his business and felt he had more to offer than just making music. He studied Business, marketing graphic design and video editing. Darius like the apesect of music marketing and felt that his skills matched the requirements to start consulting other rappers with hip hop music marketing. Most of the time Darius tells his clients to focus on targeting the right fans. Find out the ideal fan persona that you want to attract. How can obtain fans if you don't know the type of fans you want. It's like comparing J Cole fans with Young Thug fans. There might be 5% overlap but most of the time those types of fan bases are completely different. Like if you make music like that of J Cole look a the music the listen too, listen to the beats they like looking and study his followers. Seem if his followers like the same type of music that you make. Then come up with a way to target followers and fans like that of J Cole. Social Advertsing is great place to test the water with building fan base online. But don't just hide behind the computer all the time , start going to other shows , events and network with other over the phone and in person. πŸ”ˆ Drums I Use: http://bit.ly/1RY1bxI How To Promote Your Beats On Twitter πŸ’» My Twitter Course πŸ‘‰ : http://bit.ly/2dgJ03i πŸ“© Email Marketing For Musicians Course: http://bit.ly/2d4wJnl Start A Website Course: http://bit.ly/2jqLkIa Tool I use To Build My Following On Twitter: πŸ”§ Get Socialquant {Aff link}πŸ‘‰ : http://bit.ly/2e2StQ5 🎹 Beat Site πŸ‘‰: http://bit.ly/N0lTYx https://youtu.be/1AcH7sBYaME The Corporatethief Beats

Some include not targeting the right fans, treating you family and friends as fans, not building a fan email list or a website. 2:22 These mistakes tend to hurt musicians over and over again. Then they wonder why their Music Marketing Strategies don't work. You have to be able to set yourself up for marketing first before you start spending a lot of money on marketing your music. 5:33 Corey believes that you should find and build a real community of a small number of fans on your, email list, website and social profiles first. The email list and the website are your base camp. 7:11 Pick one social network that will get most of your time like Youtube, Facebook or Twitter and focus in on that. Corey also notices that musicians don't set themselves up to make money with their music. Having an email list of Die Hard Fans is the best place to start earning money. Most musicians don't have and email list. Also setting up your merch store from Day one. A lot of musicians wait for the right moment to start selling merch. But they can be lost out of easy cash on the way up. Sell merch is an easy earner for musicians and they need to find solutions to cash in early on T-shirt sales etc. 15:29 Selling singles, may not be the most lucrative model now days, but, it's a surefire way that people will buy just to support you. Corey now carries out the pay what you want the model for his digital singles. This has proven to be a better way to generate the nice chunk of change and other artist should start using this method to make money with their music. 27:33 How To Promote Your Beats On Twitter πŸ’» My Twitter Course πŸ‘‰ : http://bit.ly/2dgJ03i πŸ”ˆ Drums I Use: http://bit.ly/1RY1bxI How To Promote Your Beats On Twitter πŸ’» My Twitter Course πŸ‘‰ : http://bit.ly/2dgJ03i πŸ“© Email Marketing For Musicians Course: http://bit.ly/2d4wJnl Start A Website Course: http://bit.ly/2jqLkIa Tool I use To Build My Following On Twitter: πŸ”§ Get Socialquant {Aff link}πŸ‘‰ : http://bit.ly/2e2StQ5 🎹 Beat Site πŸ‘‰: http://bit.ly/N0lTYx https://youtu.be/QhYCGZpkyi0 The Corporatethief Beats

How To Get Your Music On Hip Hop Blogs, Getrightmusic , with Demarcus Thornton MMP #16 How to Get your music on hip hop blogs, Getrightmusic , with Demarcus Thornton MMP #16 🎹 My Blog Post πŸ‘‰: http://buff.ly/1PbwQ6O Getrightmusic site : http://bit.ly/2j7r3b3 Sub My Channel: http://buff.ly/2jkg81x My List Of Rap Blogs : http://bit.ly/2i6er7K Video Description In this Mixtape Marketing Podcast Episode #16, I introduce you to Demarcus Thornton from Getrightmusic.com mixtape and hip hop blog. [2:01} Demarcus has been in the music business for a long time and has seen all the ways how up and coming artists are trying to promote their music online. I brought him on the show just to give us an insight on what a mixtape site and hip hop blog can do for a rap artists today. 4;33 I was very curious to get his insight to see what the proper procedure is on How to Get your music on hip hop blogs and how to get featured on these rap blogs. Wondering If getting featured on rap blogs was worth the time and effort. Demarcus prides Getrightmusic also very personal blog with independent rap artists. 8:22 His staff likes to build relationships with artists, that look like they have placed real effort in the marketing of their own music. Getrightmusic provides a lot of services that are free of charge for independent rappers but also has options for those that want to pay for a higher quality of service and guidance. His mixtape site and the rap blog isn't as big as the live mixtapes or datpiff hotnehiphop, but places more focus on the music and the artist compared to other popular mixtape blogs that focus a lot of on gossip. [@ 14:38 ] What are hip hop blogs looking for in an artist? To get you music featured on hip hop blogs and to get you music heard now the day you need to be consistent. You need to be able to prove to these music blogs that you have motivated your own music too. These hip hop blogs want 1 thing, and that is traffic to their website. If you can prove that you have some sort of following or music promotion strategy, these rap blogs will more than likely feature your music on their websites. @[21:01] The main problem Demarcus sees with up and coming rappers they just have music with no plan of how to promote it. We understand that music marketing is not everyone's strongest, but you have to have some sort of plan to release the mixtape. [29:44] One of the best things an rap artist can do is to build a small team of people that will help him or her with the marketing. I rappers don't have the budget to do this then they need to start hustling and find collaborators, so that in the future they can build their own team. You have to learn the basics of music marketing and music marketing to get people to listen to your music. The gatekeepers of the music industry are though and you need a thick skin to survive. If you really want to submit your music to hip-hop blogs , start building relationships with writers of these mixtapes sites rap blogs. πŸ”ˆ Drums I Use: http://bit.ly/1RY1bxI How To Promote Your Beats On Twitter πŸ’» My Twitter Course πŸ‘‰ : http://bit.ly/2dgJ03i πŸ“© Email Marketing For Musicians Course: http://bit.ly/2d4wJnl Start A Website Course: http://bit.ly/2jqLkIa Tool I use To Build My Following On Twitter: πŸ”§ Get Socialquant {Aff link}πŸ‘‰ : http://bit.ly/2e2StQ5 🎹 Beat Site πŸ‘‰: http://bit.ly/N0lTYx https://youtu.be/2ykglagiOMo The Corporatethief Beats

Pat teacher and lecturer of hip hop music. {@ 1:49 } Pat has been teaching music and how to rap to school kids, high school students and college students for many years. When Pat was young he was interested in rock music. It wasn't until his brother gave the grasp of hip hop music and the basics on how to freestyle rap. {5:05} Pat became addicted to rapping and took his learning how to freestyle rap like a pro. Pat learned two golden rules when it comes to freestyle rap tips, don't stop if you make a mistake, and don't worry about rhyming, just learn to enunciate your words. {11:01} A lot of up and coming rappers, come into the rap game with so much pressure on their shoulders. And others come in without thinking that rap is a craft. Freestyle rapping like any other skill, and it needs to be perfected just like singing. Pat taught friends in college his new two golden rules of freestyle rap and he quickly notices that he had a talent for teaching others how to rap. {19:22} That his advice had enabled his students to learn how to freestyle at a much faster pace than he had learned when he was young. When it comes to writing rap lyrics, Pat stays close to familiar topics that mean something to him and that will be familiar to his fans base. These include issues with family, depression, girl issues , money problems, 9 to 5 ect. These are common topics that enable him to create freestyle rap lyrics that will make his creative process much easier. 29:14 Topics are broken down and then expanded to create a full freestyle rap structure or 16 bar verse as it's more commonly called. Pat believes that freestyle rapping is the best place for beginners to start. Freestyle rapping puts you in a more uncomfortable place, but forces you to practice more than a song you are confident rapping. Once you get confident freestyle rapping, you develop other skill sets like wordplay, flow and speed of delivery. The most important thing you build when your freestyle rapping is confidence in your rapping abilities. 35:01 Pat also shares his insight with after releasing 5 independent albums and the processes that he used to promote them using online tools and video. πŸ’» Pat Freestyle Rap Course: http://bit.ly/2jnU3z1 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My Resources ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- πŸ”ˆ Drums I Use: http://bit.ly/1RY1bxI How To Promote Your Beats On Twitter πŸ’» My Twitter Course πŸ‘‰ : http://bit.ly/2dgJ03i πŸ“© Email Marketing For Musicians Course: http://bit.ly/2d4wJnl Start A Website Course: http://bit.ly/2jqLkIa Tool I use To Build My Following On Twitter: πŸ”§ Get Socialquant {Aff link}πŸ‘‰ : http://bit.ly/2e2StQ5 🎹 Beat Site πŸ‘‰: http://bit.ly/N0lTYx https://youtu.be/VgnEajFhFCE The Corporatethief Beats

Buying & selling rap features , booking rap shows with TJ Bear MMP #14

Buying & selling rap features , booking rap shows with TJ Bear MMP #14 Buying and selling rap features, booking rap shows with TJ Bear MMP #14 🎹 My Blog πŸ‘‰: http://bit.ly/2jcBayv Sub My Channel: http://buff.ly/2jkg81x His article : http://bit.ly/2jcF3n1 Video Description @ 2:20 In this Mixtape Marketing Podcast Episode #13, I introduce you to TJ Bear from mindundermohawk.com. TJ is a music marketing consultant, website designer, concert promoter and hip-hop artist. I found TJ's article through a music marketing website called musicthinktank.com where he wrote about the buying and selling rap features to other hip hop artists and singers online. This topic of rap features really opened my mind at what kind of entrepreneurship rap artists can achieve. There is no one way to start buying and selling rap features online. Everyone has their own characteristics and their own lane in their own music career. But one thing that makes your style stand out as a professional is the marketing and the branding. If your brand doesn't look professional, nobody from the music industry will or sell your rap features. That's why TJ went on to study branding in conjunction with music marketing. That why with most social sites we see rappers making the mistake of over promoting their music with these tools. These tools should be used for music consumption and community engagement. There is a lot miss informed musicians that don't know how to promote their music the right way with social media. If you don't have a good brand it might be hard to sell your rap features or find people that will let you buy rap features from them. A lot of rappers should look at how their idols use social media or how Youtube vloggers use social media to build community. The way bloggers use social media is branding heaven. They really focus on connection and engagement rather than your standard "CHECK OUT MY NEW VIDEO, SONG, EP " The benefits of buying a rap feature are obvious. You are buying the influence that the other artist has built with his or her fans over time. This rap feature gives you exposure and the co-sign that can excel your growth at a faster pace. πŸ”ˆ Drums I Use: http://bit.ly/1RY1bxI How To Promote Your Beats On Twitter πŸ’» My Twitter Course πŸ‘‰ : http://bit.ly/2dgJ03i πŸ“© Email Marketing For Musicians Course: http://bit.ly/2d4wJnl Start A Website Course: http://bit.ly/2jqLkIa Tool I use To Build My Following On Twitter: πŸ”§ Get Socialquant {Aff link}πŸ‘‰ : http://bit.ly/2e2StQ5 🎹 Beat Site πŸ‘‰: http://bit.ly/N0lTYx https://youtu.be/cPOCDQ-nJ8A The Corporatethief Beats

It was Shawn Payusnomind youtube channel that first introduced me to his work. He acts like an investigator without any bias, creating research on topics like Soundcloud music promotion, Soundcloud Monetization, Social Media Marketing For Musicians and Independent Music Distribution Companies. Some of the main points Shawn Talks about here are the lack of planning musicians and rappers do when they release new music on these music distribution websites like TuneCore , One rpm and CDBaby. 5:43 If you don't prepare the music properly and cleverly plan you marketing around you music distribution a lot of this becomes a waste of time. Some musicians just release mixtape after mixtape without having a clear direction to promote the music that just made. Rappers are moving too fast without giving the music the respect it deserves. Release mixtape after mixtape without giving the previous mixtape the proper promotion. 11:09 Sometimes we must think of sites like Facebook Soundcloud and Spotify as communities rather than areas just to listen to music. These sites are places when tons of people have focused their time on music and want to engage with people just like a social media or a live concert. They want to talk about music. {@ 19:24} So musicians need to start thinking about better ways to use engagement to help promote their music without spamming people or beginning people to listen to their music. 36:55 Digital Distribution Music Companies come in different shapes and sizes, so it's best to do you research before you join one. Shawn did a great video analysis on the top music distribution companies like that of CDBaby and TuneCore, you can find it here. http://bit.ly/2j3UP3R πŸ”ˆ Drums I Use: http://bit.ly/1RY1bxI How To Promote Your Beats On Twitter πŸ’» My Twitter Course πŸ‘‰ : http://bit.ly/2dgJ03i πŸ“© Email Marketing For Musicians Course: http://bit.ly/2d4wJnl Start A Website Course: http://bit.ly/2jqLkIa Tool I use To Build My Following On Twitter: πŸ”§ Get Socialquant {Aff link}πŸ‘‰ : http://bit.ly/2e2StQ5 🎹 Beat Site πŸ‘‰: http://bit.ly/N0lTYx Video Links https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g03ep The Corporatethief Beats

Making A Juicy J Type Beat Logic Pro X Tutorial 2017

Making A Juicy J Type Beat Logic Pro X Tutorial 2017 Making A Juicy J Type Beat Logic Pro X Tutorial 2017 🎹 Beat Site πŸ‘‰: http://bit.ly/N0lTYx πŸ”ˆ Drums Used: http://bit.ly/1RY1bxI Beat Making Video Description This latest beat making tutorial in logic pro x is that of how to create a juicy j type beat. I really like the trap style beats that juicy j raps over. Like that Katy Perry feature Juicy J Dark Horse Instrumental, which really inspired me to make this beat above. The beat is 140 BPM with some simple trap instrumental tricks. The intro starts at 1:30. You can hear that it has a dark and seedy opening to the beat. Juicy J's beats tend to be dark and seedy alot. I create the 808 bassline at 2:50 using some samples that I have built up over time and added them to the esx sampler in logic to make sure that I can control the drums. At 3:47 you can hear the basic bell-like melody. Most of the time the melodies are copied for other instruments too. Just give variation in the song. These are super basic melodies , as trap instrumentals tend to have very basic melodies and the more complicated work comes with the drums and the arrangement of the song. The dark pad sound at 5:14 is what set the mood for the beat but also covers up the quietness of the instrumental. It kind of acts like a blanket for the beat. Bly blending a lot of pad sounds to get you create your own signature pad sounds that can be used for other beats in the future. You can hear the combined pad sounds here in my logic pro tutorial 9:40. 13:48 here I show you some sound effects that I tend to add in my trap music beats. Just to give the listener the effect that the song is heading into the chorus or hook of the beat. Listen to the comparisons between Katy Perry and Juicy j's Dark horse instrumental and you can hear the trap instrumental elements that I have based my beat off. The main Drum section comes in here at 17:04 which complete the whole beat. If you want to get the same drums that I use in my beat check out the producers choice drums here πŸ”ˆ Drums Used: http://bit.ly/1RY1bxI How To Promote Your Beats On Twitter πŸ’» My Twitter Course πŸ‘‰ : http://bit.ly/2dgJ03i Tool I use To Build My Following On Twitter: πŸ”§ Get Socialquant {Aff link}πŸ‘‰ : http://bit.ly/2e2StQ5 🎹 Beat Site πŸ‘‰: http://bit.ly/N0lTYx Video Links https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g03ep https://youtu.be/9pxSL5YH4Us #juicyj #beatmaking The Corporatethief Beats
